The Department of Physics emerged in the year 2003, and with regular up-gradation is now stepping into its tenth successful year. The department offers a 3 year B.Sc. Physics degree programme under Choice Based Credit System. With an increasingly knowledge based economy and the perennial need for qualified manpower in pure science in general and “Physics” in particular, there is a vast opportunity for physics graduates. Besides teaching career in schools and technical institutions, physics graduates can look forward to an exciting career in “Research and Development” and in some sectors of the knowledge based new economy.

The special feature of the department is the choice available to the second year students to select either computer science or chemistry as an allied paper. Exposure to projects in the final year will pave way for students to bring in practical and theoretical knowledge which will be an added advantage.
