Greetings from the Dean of International Programs!
Alumni, colleagues and friends of MCC around the globe have immensely strengthened the International Programs profile in the recent years. We have already signed 15 MOUs with various educational institutions around the world, and many more are in the offing.
Davidson's Semester in India: The oldest of these programs has been the Davidson's (NC, USA) 'Semester in India' Program since 1985. A group of 15-20 students accompanied by a couple of faculty members come every alternate (even) year and spend about four months between September and December, staying on the campus for about four weeks and vising places of academic interest around the country.
Elmhurst College, Chicago, Illinois: The Elmhurst group of about twenty students and faculty visit the College every J-term and spend about three weeks on the Campus. Lectures and academic visits are arranged by the College.
Furman University, South Carolina: The latest in our international programs has been from the Furman University. A group of about 17 students accompanied by two Professors spend three to four weeks in the month of February.
Besides, the North-Western College, Iowa spent a couple of weeks on the campus in the summer of 2006. They are also likely to visit us periodically.
It is heartening to share that the Department of Social Work (Day) has taken the lead in establishing international partnerships, and signing of MOUs. The Center for International Social Work, which has as many as six international partners, promises to offer an academically challenging and socially relevant program for their partners.
A batch of six students has spent a semester in the University of South Australia, with whom the College signed an MOU, and a faculty member has returned to MCC after teaching a semester in the Appalachian State University.
Two students of the M.Sc., (Marine Studies) course are on a visit to the Silliman University, Philippines, as part of partnership between the Institutions.
MCC seeks to invite partners from overseas Institutions with similar stature, mission and objectives. Collaborative programs could include:
Short term student and faculty visits;
reciprocal visiting scholars' programs;
joint research and collaboration between partner institutions at individual and department levels.
We make a special appeal to the MCC Alumni abroad, who are settled in educational institutions to explore possibility of re-connecting with their alma mater!
